Borjas misses flyweight limit by three pounds ahead of UFC Vegas 119
Kevin Borjas weighed in at 129 pounds — three over the non-title flyweight limit — for his preliminary bout against Andre Lima at UFC Vegas 119. The fight will proceed at a catchweight, with Borjas forfeiting 20 percent of his purse.
Kevin Borjas came in three pounds heavy at the UFC Vegas 119 official weigh-ins on Friday, registering 129 pounds for his flyweight preliminary bout against Andre Lima — well above the 126-pound non-title limit. The UFC confirmed the Lima vs. Borjas fight will proceed at a catchweight, with Borjas forfeiting 20 percent of his purse as a financial penalty.
Borjas was the sole fighter among the 24-man card to miss weight. The remaining 23 competitors all made the scale without issue, including the flyweight main event headliners.
Kyoji Horiguchi stepped on the scale first, hitting championship weight at exactly 125 pounds. Manel Kape followed, using the one-pound allowance available for non-title bouts to register at 126. The two meet in a rematch nearly nine years in the making — their first encounter came at a RIZIN event in December 2017, when Horiguchi submitted Kape with an arm-triangle choke in the third round. A UFC flyweight title shot is potentially on the line for the winner.
Elsewhere on the main card, Ion Cutelaba (205.5) and Navajo Stirling (205) are set for a light heavyweight clash, while the featherweight division features bouts between Hyder Amil and Christian Rodriguez, Melsik Baghdasaryan and Murtazali Magomedov, and Vinicius Oliveira against Andre Fili — all of whom made weight cleanly.
On the preliminary card, the rest of the lineup also came in on target, with Leon Shahbazyan, Bia Mesquita, Allan Nascimento, Gaston Bolanos, Karol Rosa, and Shane Collins among those successfully hitting their marks ahead of Saturday’s event in Las Vegas.
