Blachowicz dismisses Hill's heavyweight move as the result of an undisciplined diet
Jan Blachowicz has taken aim at Jamahal Hill's dramatic weight gain, insisting the former light heavyweight champion looks 'fat' because of poor diet rather than his ongoing knee injury recovery.
Jan Blachowicz has sharply criticised Jamahal Hill’s physical condition ahead of the American’s move to heavyweight, telling Home of Fight that Hill’s size is the product of an undisciplined diet rather than his knee surgery.
Hill, a former UFC light heavyweight champion, recently announced he is stepping up to heavyweight after a run of three consecutive losses. Videos circulating on social media show the 33-year-old carrying noticeably more bulk, prompting Blachowicz to weigh in with a blunt assessment.
“Did you see how fat he is right now? So, I’m not impressed,” Blachowicz said. “I’ve had a lot of injuries and surgeries, and I’ve never looked so bad like him, so he just eats a lot of sh*t, I think.”
Blachowicz, who held the light heavyweight title himself, rejected the idea that Hill’s knee surgery — which is expected to keep him sidelined until late 2026 — explains the weight increase. The Polish fighter pointed to his own injury history as evidence that going under the knife does not have to result in significant physical decline.
Hill’s career has been defined as much by misfortune as by talent. He captured the 205-pound title against Glover Teixeira in January 2023 but was forced to vacate the belt shortly afterwards after tearing his Achilles tendon during a pickup basketball game. He has since gone 0-3 inside the octagon, a skid that appears to have accelerated his decision to seek a fresh start at heavyweight.
Blachowicz, meanwhile, is dealing with his own scheduling problems. The 42-year-old, who holds a 29-11 record, was set to face Bogdan Guskov in a rematch at UFC Belgrade on 1 August, but has been left without an opponent after Guskov accepted a short-notice fight against Magomed Ankalaev at UFC Abu Dhabi on 25 July. Blachowicz has managed just two draws and two losses since 2022, leaving him in need of a result to revive his own standing in the division.
