Barcelona are negotiating new contracts for academy graduates Xavi Espart and Brian Farinas after both players were promoted to Hansi Flick’s first-team squad for the 2026-27 campaign, with Espart’s release clause set to increase from €20m to €150m if an agreement is reached.

According to Diario Sport, via Barca Blaugranes, talks on Espart’s deal are already under way. The proposed sevenfold increase would add €130m to his current clause and reflects his standing as a senior squad member. Espart has made an encouraging start to the season and has been handed the No. 12 shirt.

Farinas is also in discussions over improved terms. His release clause currently stands at €20m and is expected to rise to reflect his new status as a first-team player, though Barcelona have not disclosed a target figure for the midfielder’s revised deal.

The two cases are distinct despite running in parallel. Espart’s proposed €150m clause is the clearest number to emerge from the reported negotiations, while Farinas’ situation remains at an earlier stage. Flick has publicly stated that Farinas deserves first-team minutes, an assessment that sits alongside the ongoing contract discussions.

A third academy player, Hamza Abdelkarim, is also reported to be in line for an improved contract, with his release clause separately set to rise to €150m. That figure relates to Abdelkarim’s own negotiations and does not indicate where Farinas’ clause may land.

The broader round of contract reviews follows the close of the summer transfer window, with Barcelona working through a series of upgrades for players who have stepped up into Flick’s squad. The most concrete outcome reported so far concerns Espart: a new deal that would make him significantly more expensive to prise away from the club.
