Australia Men's Sevens re-sign four players ahead of Olympic-qualifying SVNS campaign
Ben Dalton and Beau Morrison have signed fresh 12-month contracts with Australia Men's Sevens, while development deals have been handed to teenagers Brody Folkes and Bailey Roberts-Lintmeijer ahead of the Olympic-qualifying HSBC SVNS Series.
Australia Men’s Sevens have confirmed four re-signings as the program builds toward an Olympic-qualifying HSBC SVNS Series campaign, with Ben Dalton and Beau Morrison committing to new 12-month contracts and development players Brody Folkes and Bailey Roberts-Lintmeijer also extending their stays.
Dalton, who came through the NSW Waratahs youth system before linking with the ACT Brumbies setup in 2021, made his national sevens debut at the Dubai Sevens in 2024 after catching the eye of then-coach John Manenti. Director of High Performance Peter Horne said Dalton has found consistency and is on an upward trajectory. “He is growing in the Sevens space and will only get better ahead of the Olympics,” Horne noted.
21-year-old Morrison first wore the gold jersey on the world circuit at SVNS Cape Town last December, having come through Warringah, Narrabeen and Sydney University. A knee injury cut short what Horne described as “a great first season,” but the program expects him to take on a greater role in the coming campaign.
Folkes, a teenager who earned representative honours with Australia U18 sides in both sevens and XVs, is working his way back from an ACL injury sustained last year. Horne confirmed the program is focused on his rehabilitation and development across both formats of the game.
Roberts-Lintmeijer, 18, returns on another development deal after joining the program last year. Horne highlighted the youngster’s pace as a key asset, saying: “It’s only a matter of time before we see him on the field in open space.”
The four re-signings signal continuity for Australia Men’s Sevens as they target qualification for the next Olympic Games through the SVNS Series.
