Arsenal target £140m midfield and winger double deal as Benfica rival Gunners for Osorio
Arsenal are being linked with a £140m double move this summer, pursuing Newcastle's Bruno Guimarães and Lille's Ayyoub Bouaddi for midfield while facing competition from Benfica for Midtjylland winger Dario Osorio.
Arsenal are monitoring a potential £140m double transfer push this summer, with Mikel Arteta targeting midfield reinforcements and a highly-rated Chilean winger as the Gunners prepare to defend their Premier League title.
The north London club have been linked with Newcastle’s Bruno Guimarães and Lille teenager Ayyoub Bouaddi to strengthen their engine room, while 22-year-old Midtjylland winger Dario Osorio has also emerged as a target. Arteta’s only confirmed addition so far this window is the permanent signing of defender Piero Hincapié following his loan spell last season.
Osorio, whose contract at Midtjylland runs until June 2030, contributed eight goals and ten assists across 49 appearances in all competitions last season, helping the Danish side win the Cup. The Chilean international has drawn comparisons to former Arsenal and Barcelona forward Alexis Sánchez, and is reportedly valued at between £10.3m and £12.9m.
However, Arsenal face a fresh rival for Osorio’s signature. According to ADN Deportes, as quoted by Sport Witness, Benfica — under newly-appointed manager Marco Silva — are now in pursuit of the winger. Silva is said to have tracked Osorio during his time at Fulham and is keen to bring him to Lisbon.
Midtjylland sporting director Kristian Kjaer confirmed that multiple Premier League and European clubs have registered interest. “We know Arsenal have been interested in Osorio, but we also know other Premier League clubs have been the same,” Kjaer told ADN Deportes. “In my opinion, the Premier League suits him very well because he has a very hard-working mentality. His defensive transitions are incredible, his top speed is incredible. He’s a left-footed right winger who can go to either side of his direct opponent. He has everything. In Chile, he’s considered the next Alexis Sánchez. I think he can make a difference in the Premier League.”
On the midfield front, Guimarães has been a long-standing target for Arteta, with the Brazilian widely regarded as one of the Premier League’s most complete central midfielders. Bouaddi, a teenage sensation at Lille, has also been mentioned as a potential arrival to add depth and creativity in the centre of the park.
Arsenal are expected to compete on all four fronts again next season, and Arteta is understood to be keen to add quality across the squad before the window closes.
