Allen, Shahbazyan slugfest headlines UFC Vegas 118 bonus sweep as four earn $100K
Brendan Allen and Edmen Shahbazyan shared Fight of the Night honours after a stand-up war at UFC Vegas 118, while Edgar Chairez claimed Performance of the Night for a first-round rear-naked choke finish over Bruno Silva.
Brendan Allen and Edmen Shahbazyan walked away with $100,000 each after their middleweight co-main event at UFC Vegas 118 on June 7 was named Fight of the Night, capping a card defined by finishes across the board.
Allen (27-7), typically known for his wrestling, opted to stand and trade with Shahbazyan (16-6) throughout their bout. The gamble produced a fan-friendly slugfest, with Allen landing the cleaner, more damaging shots to earn a unanimous decision victory.
Edgar Chairez (14-6) was the sole prelims fighter to claim a Performance of the Night bonus, stopping Bruno “Bulldog” Silva (15-9) inside the opening round. The Mexican flyweight, fighting out of Mexicali, dropped Silva with an uppercut before swiftly locking in a rear-naked choke to force the tap. The finish extended Chairez’s winning streak to three fights.
Five additional fighters each received a $25,000 bonus for securing stoppages on the night: Bryce Mitchell, Alessandro Costa, Chelsea Chandler, Joanderson Brito, and Ketlen Souza.
The result-heavy card was headlined by Gabriel Bonfim, who defeated former welterweight champion Belal Muhammad in the main event.
