Allan Saint-Maximin leaves Lens for Charlotte FC in MLS this summer
Six months after arriving from Mexico, Allan Saint-Maximin is set to leave RC Lens to join Charlotte FC in MLS. An agreement is imminent, according to L'Équipe.
Allan Saint-Maximin will leave RC Lens at the end of the season to join Charlotte FC in Major League Soccer. Arriving this winter from Mexico, the 29-year-old winger will have spent just six months in northern France.
According to L’Équipe, discussions have been underway for several weeks between Saint-Maximin and the Charlotte franchise, and an agreement is now very close. An official announcement could come in the coming days.
Out of contract with Lens, the former Saint-Étienne and Newcastle player joins Charlotte as a free agent. He is expected to receive “designated player” status, a designation that allows each MLS club to have up to three players whose salary exceeds the salary cap set by the league.
Saint-Maximin made 13 appearances in the red and gold shirt across all competitions, scoring 4 goals and providing 3 assists.
