Allan Saint-Maximin is leaving RC Lens after just six months to join Charlotte FC in Major League Soccer. The 29-year-old winger, who arrived in February from Club América (Mexico), has signed with the American club through the end of the 2028-2029 season as a designated player.
In thirteen matches wearing the Lens shirt, Saint-Maximin scored four goals and provided three assists, contributing to the club’s impressive season which concluded with a Coupe de France title. Despite this successful integration, the former Newcastle player is heading off for a new adventure abroad.
Charlotte FC, sixth in the Eastern Conference, confirmed the signing via a statement in which general manager Zoran Krneta expressed enthusiasm: “Maxi is a talented striker who has always shone at the highest level of our sport, particularly in the Premier League. We are delighted to welcome a player of his quality to Charlotte, as he is at the peak of his career. His creativity, speed, technique and flair make him one of the most promising players in Major League Soccer.”
Charlotte FC will be Saint-Maximin’s eleventh club, and his fifth outside France. The winger has previously played for Hannover in Germany, Newcastle in England, Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia and Fenerbahçe in Turkey before this new American challenge.
