All 48 World Cup 2026 squads confirmed as Tuchel omits Palmer and Foden from England
Every nation has submitted their final 26-man roster for the World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico, with the tournament kicking off on 11 June. Thomas Tuchel's England squad drew headlines after Cole Palmer and Phil Foden were left out.
All 48 nations have finalised their squads for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the tournament set to begin on 11 June across the United States, Canada and Mexico. Thomas Tuchel’s decision to omit Cole Palmer and Phil Foden from England’s 26-man group was among the most debated selections, with Brazil, Spain, France and Argentina also generating significant discussion around their final picks.
Each country submitted a squad of between 23 and 26 players — including a minimum of three goalkeepers — to FIFA by the 2 June deadline. Should a player suffer an injury after that point, they may only be replaced by someone from a previously submitted 55-man preliminary list, and only up to 24 hours before the team’s opening match.
One of the tournament’s more remarkable selection stories comes from Mexico, where 40-year-old goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa has been named for a sixth World Cup — joining Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as the only players to reach that milestone. Ochoa is unlikely to start, with Edson Alvarez captaining the side and Fulham striker Raul Jimenez leading the attack. Seventeen-year-old Tijuana forward Gilberto Mora is set to become the youngest player ever to represent Mexico at a World Cup.
South Africa return to the tournament for the first time since 2010 with a squad built largely on domestic talent — 19 of their 26 players are based in the Rainbow Nation. Burnley’s Lyle Foster is the only British-based player in their group, while uncapped defenders Olwethu Makhanya of Philadelphia Union and former Newcastle academy product Bradley Cross have both earned call-ups.
With 48 teams competing for the first time in the tournament’s history, a record number of players will experience a World Cup this summer. Squads were announced in stages throughout May and early June, and the full list of every player attending the tournament is detailed below by group.
